Yamaha PSR550 / PSR1000 / S700 / S900 Conductive Silicone Rubber Key Contact Strip
A 12-key conductive silicone rubber key contact strip that replaces worn or unresponsive key contacts in Yamaha PSR electronic keyboards. It is made in our own plant in Dongguan, the same factory that produces custom silicone rubber products for POS, medical, industrial and automotive equipment.

2. How It Works
The strip sits inside the keyboard, directly against the PCB board. Each key press pushes the conductive carbon pill on the back of the strip onto the corresponding contact point, closing the circuit and registering the note.
Once the carbon pills wear out, keys become unresponsive or need heavy pressure to sound. That is usually the first sign that the strip should be replaced. For more on how the pills and the button structure work, see conductive silicone keypad buttons.
3. Check Your Model Before Ordering
This strip fits the following Yamaha models. Confirm your model number on the label at the back or bottom of the keyboard before ordering.
- 1Read the model label on the back or bottom of your keyboard.
- 2Count the keys on your old strip. This part carries 12 keys.
- 3Measure the strip length. This part measures 170 mm.
Other Yamaha models use different strip lengths, key counts and pill layouts, so a strip that looks similar may not work. If your model is not on the list above, check with us before ordering.
4. How to Replace the Strip
This is a drop-in replacement for the original strip, so it can be fitted without special tooling.
- 1Power off and unplug the keyboard, then let it stand for a minute before opening the case.
- 2Open the case and locate the contact strip beneath the keys.
- 3Photograph the old strip in place before removing it, so you can match the orientation of the new one.
- 4Lift out the old strip and check that no carbon residue or debris is left on the PCB contact points.
- 5Seat the new strip so that every pill sits directly over its contact point, then refit the case.
- 6Power on and test every key, including the ones that were failing before.
If several keys still fail after replacement, the problem is usually on the PCB side rather than the strip. Send us the details and we will help you work out which part needs attention.
5. Conductive Pills: What to Look For
Conductive pills are the carbon-loaded silicone contacts moulded on the back of the strip. Each key press brings one pill into contact with a pad on the PCB, closing that key's circuit. Their condition is what decides whether the part works at all.
Flat surface, no flash around the contacts, snaps back cleanly when pressed, neutral odor.
Excess material around the contacts, stays flat and feels dead, strong chemical smell.
